Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an American-born British sitar player and music artist. She was first within her age bracket to be awarded an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Sitar Shankar, one of the Indian young sitar singer. She is the student and daughter of Ravi Shankar. She was born London in 1982. During during her early years, she swam in London New Delhi. Her first performance took place on stage in New Delhi when she was only 13 years old. She then moved in Encinitas CA, where she received her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha, who is only a teenager, has had an extremely successful recording and performing career. She has performed with her father on stage for several years. The singer released Anourag her first solo album in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years following her debut solo album. Because she has performed on all the major stages in all over the globe, her career on stage has been expansive. Her career extends beyond the realm of music. In 2002, she released the book Bapi The love of My Live this is a pictorial biography which pays special honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. She has also acted in films in 2003 she acted in the film Dance Like a Man where she portrays an aspiring Bharat Natyam dancer. Her first performance with the Sitar was in her 75th birthday celebration in Delhi, four years after. Anoushka, who accompanied her father during his world tour, gained a remarkable number of experiences. In her teenage years she performed in Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and recorded alongside George Harrison. Her talent and musicality was acknowledged by the British parliament as among the finest at Asian Arts.
